I had not yet won an ipad2 when I joined the magnolia name the twin mascots promo. You had to take a picture with a kid aged 8-12 years old drinking magnolia choclait and think of a name for the twins and then ask your friends to vote for your entry. The prize was an ipad2.
So I sent in this entry and said I wanted to name then Mico and Maya. Here is my kilometric ms. universe reason why:
Mico is a great name for an active Pinoy boy who likes video games but also likes to play soccer and basketball and patintero. He’s obedient and respectful but playful, too. His name comes from a combination of MIlk and ChoCO=MICO.
Maya is a very Pinoy name for a girl with a wild imagination. Sometimes she’s a bird, or a wizard or a reporter, but most of the time she’s a sweet girl who loves to read and act out stories. Her name comes from the first and last syllables of Magnolia.
Truth be told , I thought I had it in the bag.
After a much delayed announcement, I found out I didn't win but I was in the top 20 which meant I'd get a gift pack. And I did win best caption so I also won 2 months worth of chocolait! Hurray!
Claiming it was easy enough though it was kind of embarassing to admit to the ad agency people that I had joined a lot of contests, around 20 for this year alone. But hey, I have a free ipad 2 to show for it, so who cares? Bringing the prizes was the hard part. I had to carry my backpak with 1 liter of magnolia inside plus two boxes of chocolait containg 24 tetrapacks at 250ml each! That's 12 liters extra I had to lug around to the office where I split the prize with my model, Joshua.
It's been a good year and it's not even over! I'm about to buy some groceries now, some of which also have contests! I know I have a problem, I'm living it! I just can't stop joining! Help!

finally, i won! i won!
After years of trying to win one, I finally won an ipad 2 with wifi and 3G! Remember how I said that the ipad is the best and worst gadget of the year? Well, the ipad2 is the best especially when it's free! I love all the free apps and free downloads!

I lost! I lost!
I joined the History Channel "Hidden Cities" contest last December and I entered Culion as a city they should check out. I named my entry Culion: City of the living dead as it once was the largest leper colony in the world.
I forgot there was a voting component and I was also afraid my friends and family would be sick of another campaign asking for votes just a few months after winning that iPod nano. Plus, I already had a videocam, though a new Sanyo videocam would have been a great backup...
So I didn't win but I did get shortlisted as one of the 20 finalists and got a backpack which they delivered some weeks ago and I must say, it is awesome! I was expecting an ordinary backpack but this one is a traveler's/hiker's backpack with all sorts of zippers and pockets. And it's water-resistant, too! So I lost but the consolation prize is surely consoling! :D
Sure hope I have better luck in the Mama Mar y video contest!!!

and yes, i won! i won!
After an exhausting campaign, i won 2nd place in the merciful mother and me photo contest i really didn't expect to win because some of the other entries had thousands of votes versus my 150+ votes. Thanks to all of my friends, officemates, relatives and friends of friends who voted and did not unfriend me as I kept flooding facebook with all sorts of pathetic requests for votes like ...
After all that, I got my ipod nano on Dec.23 and what a happy Christmas it was! Again, thank you all! Next up, a mama mary video contest! dun-dun-dun-dunnnnn!!!
- Top 5 reasons to vote for me ("Everytime you vote, an angel gets his wings...")
- Dear Santa all I want for Christmas is...("Good friends with stable internet connection... and world peace)
- Every voter will get a chance to win a tshirt!
After all that, I got my ipod nano on Dec.23 and what a happy Christmas it was! Again, thank you all! Next up, a mama mary video contest! dun-dun-dun-dunnnnn!!!

by the way...i won! i won!
In other news...
my perseverance has paid off again! I won first prize in the "Where have your sandals gone?" photo contest. It's the first time I won the top prize in a nationwide contest! I won a trip for 2 to Boracay with accommodations at Patio Pacific plus cash and gift certificates from Rider!
Too bad I wasn't able to claim my prize personally as it was also the office anniversary and I was being awarded for 10 years of loyalty! Still, I am soooooo happy! So guys, my advice, keep joining! You'll lose most of the time but your chances of winning are still better than hitting the jackpot at the lotto!
That's my winning entry on the far left

I won! I won! but...

Recently, I got an email saying I won 3rd place in the Mentos contest and another email saying I voted for the 3rd place winner in the same contest. Yes I voted for myself because one of the criteria for judging was how many votes you get. Almost immediatly after, I got another email recalling the first 2 emails. I could only win once and since no one else voted for me, I don't know what'll happen to the other Ipod shuffle.
Lesson learned: next time, enter someone else's name. :)
Anyway, I got a green Ipod shuffle 4Gig from the good people at mentos. Since this wasn't the first time I had won in a contest,(exhibit A, B, C) I had my 2 valid IDs photocopied before I went to claim my prize. When I handed this over to the person in charge, she realized that I was no ordinary winner... I was...a professional contest joiner!
I gave the Ipod to my sister since it was her camera and photo. Plus, I already have a Creative mp3 player. Here's to more wins in the future!

I won! I won! again
We bought a new LCD computer monitor after our old crt conked out and I saw an ad in the paper that if you register your purchase online, you can win samsung products. I was praying to win a 32" LCD tv...I got a call one day informing me I won a printer! Wow! Cool, i thought...so I got it at Greenhills last week and it was a monochrome laser printer.
So...does anyone want to buy a brand new black ink only printer? :)

Fly, fly fly Boracay
SEAIR and ivan about town are having a contest and the prize is a trip to Boracay! All I have to do is blog about the airline and why I deserve to win so here goes: Seair was definitely on my list of airlines when I finally decided to fly to Boracay. I didn't want to use Cebu Pacific or PAL because their big planes meant you'd have to land on Kalibo ride a bus for an hour before getting to Caticlan then to Boracay. It would be our first time there and we didn't want to get lost.I was also impressed by their ads in the Inquirer that said they had the fastest jets: Manila to Boracay in 35 minutes! Unfortunately, I wasn't able to book a flight with them and went with Asian Spirit instead. While Asian was ok, I did feel a bit jealous of the passengers of the Seair planes who would be getting to the island paradise quicker.
Why do I deserve to win? Well, I've never ridden on their plane and I have lots of balikbayan relatives who want to go to Boracay and I really must experience a ride on their plane so I can make an informed decision as to which airline to recommend to my relatives.hehehe.I've also heard that Boracay has gone through some changes since my first visit and while some of them have been good, like the clearing of the beach of eyesores, I've also read about the overflowing creeks and the PTA's Robert Dean Barbers stamping his name all over the cemented walkway. I have to go back to Boracay to see if the island is still worth visiting! Baka mapahiya ako sa mga kamag-anak ko! No, I won't be going there to frolic in the clear turquoise waters or roll in the fine white sand. I'll go there to conduct a serious journalistic investigation...and well, maybe a little bar-hopping and boat riding and milkshake sipping and beach combing and...andyan na rin lang tayo di ba? why not?!
