Best film
One Battle after another. I don’t totally get the underlying philosophy but i get the filmmaking. It is just so exciting to watch and Leo DiCaprio as a frazzled and drugged out dad is just so funny and touching you can’t help but root for him and his daughter.
I am a scaredy cat but i also loved the horror movies like Sinners, Weapons, and 28 years later.
Worst film
Espantaho. Good thing i just waited for this on netflix. It’s so disappointing to see such great stars in a film by chito roño in a film that defies logic. A character mysteriously disappears in the old house and everyone moves on. And it turns out Lorna Tolentino is a ghost but no one is surprised.
And i know that Mallari was shown on netflx in 2024 but i totally forgot that i hated it more.
Another disappointment for me was Superman. I was worried because i saw a lot of characters were cast and just as i feared, they take up too much time in an overcrowded movie. Glad it was a hit but it wasn’t my cup of tea.
Best TV series
Heated Rivalry. I thought it was just a sleazy gay show but i was pleasantly surprised that it was sensitively written and well made. By the end i was crying and it turns out a lot of people liked it too. Good job, canadians!
Peacemaker was supposed to be my best tv show if not for Heated Rivalry. I’m not a fan of John Cena or James Gunn, and definitely didn’t know much about Peacemaker but i looked forward to this show every week.
Worst tv series
Sang’gre was supposed to be a major tentpole introducing new blood into a twice revived series. It was ok at first but due to high ratings, it was extended and now the story doesn’t make sense.
Pluribus is consistently in the best of 2025 list but i am not impressed. It feels like a chore to watch. I hope that changes soon.
Best song
Multo by Cup of Joe. I’m not up to date with new songs but i liked this catchy song with a memorable melody.
Golden from K-pop demon hunters was just inescapable this year with everyone trying to hit those notes. I also liked Opalite, Manchild and Where is my husband.
Worst song
I loved the beat of Predador de Perereca until i googled the english translation. It’s so dirty i’ve advised parents to not let their kids dance to it.
People also made fun of Darren Espanto’s Maui Wowie, and Aljur’s howling.
Best comic
Absolute Wonder Woman was an awesome re-imagining of the Amazon. This time, something erased all her amazon family and she is raised in hell by Circe. She has magical powers and a metal arm, and a skeletal pegasus. It’s so weird but beautiful.
Worst comic
Wonder woman by tom king. How ironic that the original title is so bad even if the art by david sampere is so beautiful. Diana herself feels hollow.
